Privacy Policy

Introduction

Claude's Audio Universe ("the App") is developed by Michael Lee Fluharty ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

Information Collection and Use

We Do Not Collect Any Data

Claude's Audio Universe does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, usage data, or analytics. The App operates entirely on your device and does not communicate with any servers operated by us.

Apple Services Used

Each tab uses one Apple framework that talks directly to Apple's services on your behalf. Anything those services log or retain is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy, not ours:

• Stream — uses MusicKit to search the Apple Music catalog and play tracks. Subject to your Apple Music account settings and Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Record — uses AVFoundation to record audio to your device's temporary storage. Recordings live only on your device until you share them via the iOS share sheet.
• Identify — uses ShazamKit to identify songs by acoustic fingerprint. Matches are added to your My Shazam Tracks library on iOS 17+ via Apple's SHLibrary; this is your library, not ours.
• Transcribe — uses Apple's Speech framework. On-device recognition is preferred when supported by your device and locale; cloud-based recognition is used only when on-device is unavailable, in which case audio is sent to Apple (not to us) for processing.

Permissions

The App requests the following permissions to function:

Microphone Access

Required by the Record, Identify, and Transcribe tabs. The microphone is only active while the corresponding tab is in use; backgrounding the App stops all microphone use.

Speech Recognition

Required by the Transcribe tab. Used to convert spoken words to text, preferring on-device recognition where supported.

Apple Music

Required by the Stream tab to search and play from the Apple Music catalog. Non-subscribers can still play 30-second previews without granting full access.

Data Storage

The App stores nothing across sessions. Recordings written by the Record tab live in your device's temporary storage and are removed when the tab is closed or the App is quit. Transcriptions and song matches are not saved by the App — you choose where they go via the system share sheet.

Background Behavior

Claude's Audio Universe is a teaching tool, not a media player. When the App loses focus (you switch apps or background it), all audio playback, recording, listening, and transcription stops. The App does not request or use the iOS Background Modes capability.

Third-Party Services

Claude's Audio Universe does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The App's only external communication is with Apple's first-party frameworks (MusicKit, ShazamKit, Speech) on your behalf, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

The App does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The App is suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect any data:

• There is no data to access, modify, or delete from our servers
• All session output (recordings, transcriptions) is stored locally and only persists where you explicitly send it via the share sheet
• Songs identified via ShazamKit are saved to your My Shazam Tracks library on iOS 17+ — that library is managed by Apple, not by us, and you can clear it at any time from the Shazam app or Apple Music
• You can delete the App at any time to remove all App-related data from your device

Security

The App does not transmit any data to servers operated by us. All Apple-service traffic uses Apple's standard secure connections built into MusicKit, ShazamKit, and Speech.
